Positano, Amalfi Coast, 2020
The Amalfi Coast in Italy is one of the most picturesque regions of the world. It is one of those cultural cross roads, where you will see the architecture of the Saracens and the Greeks, with the area forming the backdrop for part of Homer’s tales in the Odyssey (ie Ulysses tying himself to the mast of the boat to avoid the seductive pull of the female ‘Sirens’ who lured sailors onto the rocky reefs with their sweet refrains). (There’s a vaguely similar story in Virgil’s Aeneid).
